Imagine you are about to go out on the town you’re your best friend……. close your eyes. Maybe your celebrating a promotion at work, or going out because someone you know needs a pick me up. It doesn’t matter; you’ve been looking forward to this night for a while
You went to the salon got your hair and nails done, bought a new dress and you know your looks could kill a man. You feel great, but something’s wrong. You’re not turning heads like you thought, in fact, no one is looking at you at all.
The scenario should hit home for everyone at one point in our lives. We all have days when we feel stunningly gorgeous, but no one notices. Chances are one reason, you might not be dressed to impress.
You Are Beautiful
It’s hard to assess our appearance. We see things that models wear and we think, “I want to look like that.” However, when we buy the outfit and experiment with creating our style, sometimes it works out well, but other times we fail. When we fail, we damage our sex appeal. Hence, dress according to your body style.
We were made in God’s image, therefore it means all shapes, and sizes….. you are beautiful! Look at the mountains, the sunset, the birds in the sky. We can all agree that God made those things beautiful. So, why should humans be any different?
Think about it this way; pretend you are a realtor trying to sell a newly renovated house. The inside of the house is stunning. The walls have fresh coats of paint, the bedrooms are great sizes, it has an open floor plan, and all of the appliances are brand new. The inside is every buyer’s dream, but you haven’t been able to find any traction with your listing. After much investigation, you discover that the problem lies in the appearance of your house. Even though your listing has all the right things, it’s missing one key factor: curb appeal.
Once you know the problem, the solution is simple. You have to fix up the front yard. You have to make the house look as stunning on the outside as it is on the inside. So, you do some landscaping, paint the front door, and maybe hang new shutters. Once you change the curb appeal, buyers come flocking to your door.
When we think about this scenario, it’s easy for us to say that changing the curb appeal was an easy solution. We would all agree that changing the curb appeal was a superficial change that increased the value of the home. The truth is, we face the same situation daily. We have beautiful qualities, but we end up getting in our way by not dressing for our body types. You shouldn’t feel ashamed about your body type. Consider, dressing for your body type accentuates your innate beauty.
Before going out to buy new clothes, do some research, learn your body style. Once that is established by the outfits to fit you. In other words, compliment the figure you currently have.
As an example, decide which departments you are blessed in and accentuate those areas. If your waistline is wider than your hips, you shouldn’t be wearing a crop top. Women want to increase their sex appeal, but remember that just because they make it in your size does not mean you should wear it. Instead, spend time learning what styles, fabrics, and colors flatter your body type. To get you started,
The first body type is pear-shaped. Ask yourself……
- Is your waist is wider than your bust?
- Do you consider yourself to have fuller hips?
- Do you have narrower shoulders in comparison to your hips?
- Do you have a fuller rear?
If you fall in this category, flaunt your body. One great piece of attire is plunging necklines, by highlighting it with a cardigan jacket that hits mid-thigh. If you require a dress for a night on the town dropped and embellished necklines, open backs, dramatic sleeves, and belted styles will all play up your more slender upper body. Plus, A-line styles also look fantastic, which also applies to skirts.
If you don’t have a pear-shaped body you might have an hourglass figure. This means…
- If you’d describe your body as curvy?
- Do you have a well-defined waist?
- Is your bust and hip measurements are roughly even?
- Do you have a fuller bust, hips, and thighs?
The trick here is to show off your narrow waist; everything from the most basic pieces (like casual tees!) or button-up workwear blouses should be fitted to show off your narrow waist. Since you’ve already got a balanced top and bottom, so don’t forget to show off your tiny waist. If you want a night out on the town, you can wear a classic movie star style dress: the fit and flare.
The next body shape is an apple shape. If this describes you then…
- Are you are generally well-proportioned?
- Are your shoulders are broader than your hips?
- If you are not necessarily as curvy through your hips?
- If you don’t have a well-defined waistline?
In this case, a comfortable, flowing outfits are for you. The shirts that look best are flowing tunics and relaxed boyfriend, button-ups. But, don’t think you are limited to just this style of clothing. You also look fabulous in strapless dresses!
If none of these seem options is the right fit, then you might have an athletic-shaped body. Would you say…
- If you’re not particularly curvy?
- If your shoulders and hip measurements are nearly the same?
- If your waist isn’t very small or well-defined, but rather straight up and down?
- If your weight is fairly evenly distributed throughout your body?
Some women might feel self-conscious with an athletic build, but you shouldn’t. You have an amazing body type that looks great in racerback shirts and halter-style tops. You can also carry the halter top theme with a jumpsuit that has an open back.
